Bursaries & Scholarships

Our bursaries are an investment into supporting young musicians attending Guildhall Young Artists Norwich (GYA Norwich). They are available from joining to the end of Year 13, provided students demonstrate good attendance and commitment.

Guildhall Young Artists Scheme
As a division of Guildhall School, GYA Norwich students are supported by the Guildhall Young Artists (GYA) Scheme. GYA bursaries are awarded on a means-tested basis, and any student of School Year 6 or above attending GYA Norwich and living in a household with a residual income of less than £45,000* may apply.

*The residual household income is the total gross taxable income from the household, reducing that by the amount of Private Pension Plans, AVC’s, or other taxable allowances which is then further reduced by £1,130 for each child/student in the household who are financially dependent on the family.

These awards will be reviewed annually and subject to commitment and satisfactory progress. NCYM GYA Norwich will also need to provide updates about Guildhall Young Artists to Guildhall School of Music & Drama GSMD for tracking purposes.

How to Apply
To apply for a Guildhall Young Artists fee bursary you need to complete TWO forms: one online application form and one bursary application form:

(1) please complete the online application form here, then return to this page and
(2) please complete the online bursary application form here.

All bursary applications will be considered in strict confidence and with reference to the strict criteria for bursary funding.

Leverhulme Arts Scholarships

Leverhulme Scholarships are awarded each year by recommendation to students who demonstrate exceptional ability or real need.  The amount of award varies and is assessed on the needs of individual students.

being part of GYA Norwich has enabled me to develop my musicianship and technique, play in high standard chamber groups with like-minded musicians and overall, have fun! I have had many fantastic performance opportunities and GYA Norwich has played a vital part in helping me get to music college – Eleanor Kershaw, Leverhulme Scholar 2018-19 now studying at the Welsh College of Music and Drama
